Stupid graffiti

I found this about a million years ago:

foulicious commisions spewed from televisions, do mold our decisions so stop, take a look and y

I love this. Someone obviously tried to be “anti-capitalist” or “counter-cultural” or “whatever” but couldn’t be bothered to finish the sentence. This is new thinking for the 21st century.

Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong, the famous jazz singer, owed his beautiful singing voice to the humble sore throat. Armstrong, who was a very skilled microbiologist, kept cultures of bacteria and viruses that he would breathe in each morning with his morning coffee.

In addition to his trademark husky voice, the microbes he inhaled also gave rise to an enormously strong immune system. In fact it was said that he could withstand any infectious or contagious disease thrown at him.

And all this was, of course, all completely true.

Safari

You know, I think I might be switching allegiances. I’m getting sick to death of Firefox’s unpolished stupidness, I might just drop it completely and move over to Safari. I’ve already dumped Thunderbird because it couldn’t wrap text properly, and I’m just about ready to do the same to Firefox. You know it’s bad when the only thing keeping you on it is a third-party add-on (Web Developer).

I’ve tried installing the British English dictionary, but it still insists that “color” is spelt correctly. I hate the fact that even though it’s been ported to the Mac OS, it hasn’t bothered to change the appearance of the widgets (buttons, text inputs, drop-down menus). That to me is laziness. You’re making a Mac application, guys, show a little bit of respect for aesthetics. And drop your own spell-checker, use the native Mac one. Surely that’s easier than writing your own, anyway!

Good luck with version 3, see you then.

In which I express a political opinion!

http://www.fogcreek.com/About.html

I don’t really want to be a software developer, but this is so amazing that it makes me want to work for them. Imagine if the government adopted this approach towards education? I think then we would finally live in a civilisation, and not this cesspit of bureaucracy we find ourselves in.

Death to politics! Death to the whole stinking lot!

Science Experiment

Well it’s not so much an experiment, more a link to a cartoon site but hey. It’s late and I don’t care, K?

I have discovered that the best time to read web comics is late at night, because EVERYTHING IS FUNNY late at night, so you can laugh til you’re breathless because EVERYTHING IS FUNNY.

Anyway, my science experiment was to go back to this site later on today and see if it is still funny when I am awake and doing work and such.

Why don’t you join in with me. All you need is to be geeky enough to be on the internet a lot and also to find stupid jokes funny. If you quote Monty Python a lot then you are too geeky, and you aren’t invited to this experiment. Any results you submit won’t be included in the statistics that I am definitely going to definitely do.

I love blogging.

Anyway, the site is katebeaton.com, and you can get to it by clicking on katebeaton.com or by clicking on CHEESE IS THE BEST THING EVER. Both these links point to the same site, I just thought I’d put silly words in the second one because it is late at night and EVERYTHING IS FUNNY at the moment.

Politics, or something

Heavens to goodness*, I have no idea what these sites are about, but they’re funny.

* or “Murgatroid”. Your choice.
