Top 10 Search Queries for January

I’ve seen this on other blogs, so I thought I’d have a go. I have a stats package installed on my site which logs things like how many people have visited the site, where they’ve come from and what search queries they used to get here, and some of them are quite good. Seeing as [...]

Remove inline uploader from WordPress — a plugin

After installing WordPress 2.0, I found the inline uploader began to get on my nerves. I don’t use it, and I wanted rid of it. I was going to write a plugin to remove all the unnecessary crap that comes with WP 2.0, but I don’t understand the source code well enough to do it [...]

Sperm Spam

This has to be one of the funniest/grossest pieces of spam I’ve received. Don’t you just love spam? I really do, every bit I receive makes me happy, because I know that someone, somewhere has wasted money on paying those idiots to send their pointless marketing message to people who don’t care. I should probably [...]

Joel Spolsky, genius

A while ago I found a website written by a guy named Joel Spolsky when I was looking for more information about character sets. Character sets are those mysterious things that tell the computer what combination of binary digits corresponds to familiar characters like ‘A’, or ‘B’, and those less familiar, like ‘Ж’ (zheh), ‘א’ [...]

I’m at it again!

Today I started work on a new website design! It’s what I’ve been doing most of the day. I’m really pleased of late: I seem to be becoming a morning person. And by that I don’t mean someone who stays up till the wee small hours!

The best bit in any song, ever

I’m pretty sure that we heard this song while we were in South America. I think it came on the radio or something, and I remember Claire laughing her face off at it and saying how excellent it was (I believe the word she used was “terrible”).
And it is pretty excellent to be fair.
The bit [...]

World’s largest diamond mine

Well, I’ve decided not to worry about posting links any more. I do post proper content too, so it’s OK. And these links are incredible!
One of the boys in the warehouse today was reading a mag which had an article on this enormous diamond mine. It’s really, really incredible, actually.
Diamond mines, from the examples I’ve [...]

My time at the warehouse

Sad news, everybody. My time as a warehouse operative has come to a close.
One of the joys of being employed by a temping agency is that you have no idea when the work you’re currently doing is going to evaporate, even when they have explicitly told you that the assignment will be ongoing. Bless their [...]

The crazy, crazy world of green transgenic pigs

I know, I know, it’s complete crap just to post a link to another site because all you really want to hear about is all the hot gossip that’s been happening in my world recently, but this is really weird.
Damn Interesting is a site which I check regularly for interesting stuff. I recently learnt about [...]

Free standing toilet roll holder

Now there’s a title you don’t often see.
I saw this a while ago in the warehouse where I work. It caught my eye because it seemed so out of place. The box says “free-standing toilet roll holder” but the photo says “for when you want to install a toilet in your library”.
