Image thieves!

Rants

Well, I’m used to people hotlinking to images on my site (they don’t get far, hehe) but I’ve not actually had someone steal an image and use it again on their site.

Check this out. It’s some website about yorkshire, and they’ve nicked my image. Granted they’ve given credit (in the alt text), but I heard exactly nothing about it…

The offending webpage can be found here — it’s in the green box towards the bottom.

I am wondering what to do about it…

Update: I don’t believe it! There’s more! All over this page!

Update 2: Just taken some screenshots so that I have some proof should they decide to delete the page…

PS: I just noticed that “thieves” was spelt wrong in the title and changed it — the URL for this post remains the same, which is why it’s still spelt wrong, just in case you were wondering…

I think you should make some kind of formal contact and inform them of your fees. Since they have already used your images (and mention that you have this fact witnessed) they have implicitly agreed to pay them, whatever they are! Provide an address for them to send a cheque to, and suggest that this is easier than you having to involve your solicitors.

By the way, you never told me the answer to whether I can use the Cafe Mouton link gifs… So I haven’t. Just in case you felt like taking me to court! :D

You HAVE to contact them!! It would be interesting to see what their response would be.
