Stop. Paragraph.
Have you ever opened your mouth so wide that you got cramp in your tongue? Well, I have, and it really hurts and is scary. And last night I had a little nap and when I woke up my arm was completely dead. It wasn’t cold or anything, I just couldn’t move it or feel anything. The feeling disappeared after about a minute so there we go.
Anyway! Today was my last day temping at the accountancy firm I’ve been working with. Overall it was really good fun, and I learnt quite a few things and brushed up on a couple of my skills. For instance, my alphabet skills are now second to none!
But more usefully, I have a bit of experience of working in an office. Doing filing was a little tedious, it has to be said, but I have that type of mind that likes organising things into neat categories. It’s one of the reasons I like XHTML so much, I think.
Anyway, I also did a bit of audiotyping as well. Audiotyping is really fun! I like typing, for some reason, it’s a really fast way of getting your thoughts out of your head without the inconvenience of messy handwriting or ink, or having to hold something and press it onto a piece of paper.
I managed to type instructions meant for me into the letter meant for clients. It’s fun! And also I learnt that people hardly ever use the word “tell”, choosing instead to use words like “advise” or “confirm”. The pedant in me had to work hard not to rewrite bits and correct grammar, but I managed it.
And it was really fun. And they got me two bottles of wine to say thanks, they’re so kind!
Also, today, the recruitment agency I work for told me about some positions in a company that I had been eyeing up for a while. Which is really good!

I did audiotyping a while back as well - agree with you. It is fun. But I just freely corrected grammar (even corrected “Deutschmarks” to “German Marks” - and this was a financial company!) and people seemed to accept it. Or not notice. Anyway, it’s all a bit late for you now. But glad to know you enjoyed it. I’m in the throes of moving house. All on schedule so far, praise God. Anyway, I’ll reply to your several mails at some point soon, I’m not ignoring you, I’m just madbusy. What a wonderful non-word that is.
