I made macaroni!

Photos

Today I made a complete mess in the kitchen. Making macaroni cheese I managed to get about 10% of it all over the kitchen. I took some photos:

The first picture is the oven, the second the washing up bowl (I managed to block the sink), and the third is a footprint I made on the carpet in flour.

Songs to wear pants to

Putting this up here because a) it’s funny and b) so I can go on it later and not forget about it.

K, finding too many good links, let’s make a list

  • anonymous online confessions
  • OK, so that’s it… oh well. Thought there were going to be more. Anyway, if you want links go over to my links page for crying out loud, there’s loads there and no-one ever uses it!

The greatness of white ninja

White Ninja and his watermelon minions

Posted about this a while ago, I know, but I still can’t get over White Ninja’s greatness. I visit the site, like, every day. Seriously. It’s just gorgeous. It’s not just the fact that the humour is perfect, it’s the care that’s been taken over the details. I mean just look at the expressions in the cartoon I’ve linked to. The change from psychotic, and a load of activity, to the calm satisfied smile. Just look at the movement in the panels. And the title is great, too - White Ninja and his Watermelon Minions. It’s just perfect. Perfection in ink, paper and pixel. Reading this comic is just deeply satisfying - it brings me joy.

Careers, exams and me being almost a complete retard

All and sundry

Well. So here I am. Me. Mark Kenny. Marcus Aurelius, if you’re my friend Antonia. Sitting here trying to revise and decide my career, all at once! The websites I’m on are the British Council TEFL website, something about ethical careers (which looks really really interesting), and the eBay community pages - I’m trying to find out how I can sell web design on eBay.

I’m actually really excited about the future. Really excited, but I have no idea what I want to do. No, that’s not right, I know teaching is definately on the cards, but what I really mean is what I’m doing immediately after Uni. I certainly never want to move back home. Ever. Not even for a few months. By move back in, I mean get a job back in Bath and live in my parents’ home; visits is fine. I’m only ever stopping by for visits from now on. I no longer live at my parents’ house and, excepting dire circumstances, I never will.

But as for what to do, I’m not sure.

Oooh, oooh, also, for South America, I’m gonna keep a blog. Not sure about the address tho. I could have beingmrkenny.co.uk/odyssey or something. That would include all my travel, methinks. (I’m blatantly travelling in the future. That’s just a given.) Yeah, odyssey it is. It’ll be something like beingmrkenny.co.uk/odyssey/southamerica. Cool. Photo albums and blogs galore! Hooray! Good, I’m glad that’s decided. Just need to upgrade my hosting from the rubbish it’s currently on, to something better. Dataflame is what I’m thinking, although that doesn’t react well to blogger, for some reason. I’ve decided blogger is better because it loads quicker, and it’s easily transferable to new domains if need be - I don’t know if you can transfer MySQL databases.

Well hooray

Links, Web design

Jakob Nielson’s Alertbox

If you make websites, read everything this guy writes, it’s like the Bible. And if you don’t make websites, but just use them, have a read anyway, because it’s good to hear that someone, somewhere actually cares about how users use websites instead of just making money of the internet. Jakob Nielson: long may you reign over us.

Also, have a look at this page, it’s the top ten mistakes of web design made in 2002. It has cartoons! See if you indentify with them. When you do (and you will) you will know why I get so annoyed when a website does something stupid, annoying and downright immoral.
