Mark’s Money

All and sundry

I just checked my bank balance. I am the proud owner of an overdraft as long as your arm (if overdrafts’ sizes can be described as long, and if your arm is the length of the M1). Anyway, tried to book a cinema ticket online the other day: card declined.

Turns out I am 35p away from utter desolation (i.e. being £1,600 overdrawn - the limit of said overdraft). I find this to be… worrying.

Anyway, I’m currently sat with my housemate’s chequebook, writing out a cheque to myself for 80 squids. Am I stealing? No, he threw it at me and told me to fill it in (he owes me for gas and electric) but it still feels really wrong. And slightly good, too.

As if to add insult to injury, I notice that the bank has credited me with £2.57 interest. Still, it’s more than 2p, which is usually what I get.
