Bored…
Well, I am so glad this is my final year. At long last I won’t have to worry about reading and references and going to lecture and desperately trying to keep my eyes open. This morning we had a lecture on genetics and relatedness; brothers are more related to you than cousins, for instance. Anyway, it involved a tiny bit of quite simple maths, but it was still the most boring thing I have ever been to. At one point the lecturer simply gave in and said “Well, I’m not going to go any further, since it’ll be mostly me saying ‘La la la, A, A’” [A being the symbol we use for a dominant allele (remember back to GCSE biology..?)].
Anyway, I dutifully wrote down “La la la, A, A” in my notes. Quite on purpose. I bothered my coursemate next to me with writing notes about slime mould. Slime mould (Physarum sp) is incredible, it actually has 13 sexes, whereas all other civilised organisms have just the two. I wonder how that works…
Anyway, I don’t completely hate biology, I’m just sick of studying science. Go here: http://www.dagarte.com/rants/index.html!
